Why start a blog?

Hi everyone,

I asked myself this question about a million times before I started my blog. I mean come on when you are thinking about it, why should you do it? What are you going to deliver that other people don't? Would anyone read it? These are all questions you may ask yourself when considering writing a blog. I know when I first started I had so many reasons not to write a blog that I forgot all about the reasons what makes writing a blog so incredible. You may think this is weird, but I think starting my blog was one of the best things I have ever done. So I thought today I would share my reasons with you why you should start a blog if you have been thinking about it.

1. Its creative
Writing a blog which is yours gives you full exposure on what you can write about. If you are a creative person then blogging is so for you. It is a place where you can be yourself and write about things that actually interest you. The creativity doesn't just come from your writing, it comes from everything from design layout to photographs. When I first started blogging I was awful at taking decent pictures, and felt like this could become a chore or be my downfall. But now I love it. Actually its one of my favourite parts to creating a blog post. At the moment I only use my IPhone for pictures but it has encouraged me to think about investing in a decent camera. If you start a blog, you will find your creativity is always changing, always improving. There is so much to learn along the way, so why wouldn't you want to do it.

2. Its so much fun
I am not saying everyone will feel like this, blogging may not be for you. But I have to be honest if you do enjoy doing it you will find it fun. You may not find every aspect of blogging to be fun, definitely to start with you may not. When you first start a blog it feels like nothing is quite happening, but you need to give it time. I love nothing more now than sitting down with my planning folder and working away on ideas. I believe if you truly love doing it you will have no ends of fun. From choosing what blog posts you are going to write to designing your actual blog page.

3. Connecting with people
This one is a big one for me. Blogging offers you the chance to meet people who share the same interests as you. Whether this be through social media or comments on your blog. This is an awesome way to really find out what your audience wants to see. But bear in mind, still write what you want to write, or you will get nothing out of it for yourself. Bloggers also hold blogger meet ups, which are an incredible way to meet people who may read your blog or you read theirs. Blogging is a community and what I have seen so far everyone is happy to help everyone else out. Its a great chance to meet people that could become long term friends.

4. Its yours
That's right, its all yours. So you can post as and when you like. With the content you want. As its yours you can work to your own schedule, if you have a busy week at work you may not post much that week. But it doesn't matter. This also means you can write about whatever you like in the style of writing you wish. There are no boundaries, its all up to you. Your blog is your place to express yourself and be yourself. That is the most important thing, you don't need to be someone else to write a blog. You will do just fine. So don't be afraid to put yourself into your writing. I write as I speak, because I think why would someone want to read a blog that sounds like it is written by a robot? Well they wouldn't. So just be you.

5. Its not all about money
Don't go into blogging because you know of certain bloggers out there that live off their blog. This is not a reason to start. Start because you want to and you feel passionate about your writing. Money was never a thought for me, I wanted to do it because I wanted a hobby for myself outside of work. I had always wanted to start a blog, so I did. I make this sound easy, I am not a confident person anyone that knows me would tell you that. It took me a good two years to actually start my blog. It came down to some good advice and a friends opinion from my manager at work. I thank her for that because if she had never told me to go for it, I don't think I would of. So don't do it because you think you will make money off of it, trust me it doesn't happen that quick. Do it because you have something to say and want a place to share it.

6. You are forever learning
I will be honest with you, before I started blogging computers were not my thing. I knew all the basics, but then I had to learn so much to set up and actually make a go of my blog. It takes time and patience to start a blog, and you have to be willing to give this. I am still learning now, even after months of writing on here. I still have to google things to find out how to do them, but its all part of my journey. I remember when I set up my google analytics, I think I spent three evening setting it all up and working out how to use it. But its all the fun that come with a blog. All you need is a lot of patience and be willing to learn.

7. Confidence
As I have already said I lack this, but I have more confidence since starting my blog.  I know this sounds a bit silly as you are just typing blog posts up. But trust me your confidence will grow. If you are already a confident person, blogging will be amazing for you. You will have all you need, you just need to put that into your posts. Trust me the more you post the more you will see you confidence grow.

8. Commitment
Its that word, commitment. But you will need it. If you post regularly you will find your views will go up. You will also find you will acquire regular readers to your blog. To stay committed you need to be organised. I keep folders with all my paper work in, so I can find it all easily. If you are consistent with your content you will find blogging a breeze. My advise is start small and then grow. When I first started in October I posted once a week. I said right Zoe if you can post once a week see how that go and then start posting more. I wanted to check I was committed to it first. Then at the end of April I took the plunge and decided to post three times a week. Yes this was a big jump, you don't have to do it quite that big. But it worked I stayed committed and now if everything is running smoothly I post every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. I wouldn't have it any other way. If you are committed to starting a blog and stay committed throughout, it will be a great experience for you.

So they are my tips for why you should give blogging a go. If you write a blog, do you have any different advice? Let me know in the comments. Also if you write a blog leave me your link in the comments, so I can check you out. I hope if you are planning on starting a blog this has been helpful. If you do decide to start let me know your link I would love to read them. Also good luck, I hope you have many happy blogging days.

My favourite places to shop

Hi everyone,

So I would describe myself as a shopping addict. Be this clothes, shoes, products or even food. It really doesn't matter. I just love to shop. I have a feeling most girls do. So I thought today I would give you a list of the places I like to shop and some of the things I like to buy.

 New Look

Picture: http://zizo-magazine.be/new-look-biedt-excuses-aan-na-klacht-transvrouw
New look is one of my go to places to buy clothes. It is normally the first place I look if I am after a new outfit. I just love everything about their clothing and their shoes. The quality is really nice, be this their basics or their higher end items. So most clothes you see me wearing on Instagram or in videos, are most likely to be from new look. The bags are also very good, I have had new look bags that have lasted me longer than higher end bags I have purchased.

Primark

Image result for primark
Picture: https://thebeautynary.wordpress.com/2014/04/04/is-primark-coming-to-antwerp/
Do you like to grab a bargain? Well Primark is your place. Some of the clothes are not the best of quality. But what can I say you buy a dress for £5.00, what do you expect. On the other hand they do make some really beautiful items, which do look and last very well. This is one of the places I get my work clothes from because I just get colour on them, so they don't need to be expensive. Primark also do an amazing range of homeware. As a homeware addict this is heaven to me. Cheap homeware, what more could we ask for.

Amazon

I buy most things off of amazon. If I see something that I like the looks of, nine out of ten times I see if it is cheaper on Amazon. I am not a cheap skate I just like to look for bargains. I mostly get books, cd's and dvds, but seriously I buy anything off there. This is an amazing website and delivery is normally really good.

Next

Image result for next
Picture: http://www.thedrum.com/news/2013/03/21/next-posts-15-rise-online-and-catalogue-sales-profits-exceeding-300m
Next is where I love to buy homeware. The stuff is absolutely stunning and looks incredible. Next clothing is also gorgeous. I own a few piece from there and all of them are lovely. I know they will get tons of wear and will defiantly be things I never get rid of. Bit more expensive but totally worth the money.

Boots

Image result for boots.uk
Picture: http://groupthink.kinja.com/dear-boots-drug-store-1489277060
Looking for an awesome drugstore? Say hello to Boots. This is like heaven to me, I literally could spend hours in there. Hair, skincare, make-up and perfume. The list is endless. I normally go in for like one thing and come out with about 5. Its just how it is. Its that's good.

So they are some of my favourite places to shop. From hair and beauty to clothes and homeware. Where do you like to shop? Let me know in the comments. I hope you have had an awesome week. See you next week.

Top 5 wedding hair inspiration

Hi everyone,
On Saturday 2nd July my mum is getting married. As the day draws closer it has got me thinking about good wedding hair. We do get quite a few brides and bridesmaids come into the salon. To see their hair being done, either for a trial or the big day, is a magical thing. You really do have to experience it to understand. So I thought I would share with you today my top 5 wedding hair ideas. Be you a bride to be, bridesmaid or just someone that loves hair posts, I hope you enjoy. These are the kind of styles we get asked for quite a lot.
1. Pinned into a curly bun:

This is the classic curly bun you always see. Basic yet extremely elegant. This style is perfect for the bride that doesn't want anything too out there but wants to look amazing. This can be adjusted to how the client wants it in so many ways. Whether you want it in a more tighter bun or even looser in a more looser bun. A curly bun then can be placed either directly on the back or placed to the side. This works for both brides and bridesmaids. Its simple yet flattering.
2. A roll that sits on your hairline:

A roll can work for both a younger bride and an older bride, age is no issue. This delicate neat style will leave the bride not a hair out of place. This being said you can wear a roll either neat and immaculate (as seen above) or more loosely rolled. Either are very affective. The roll itself is an incredible base to pin anything into, be this something sparkly or flowers. A finishing touch will take this style from a roll to an elegant updo.

3. Curly and pinned slightly back:

Another simple style, yet you can do so much with it. Curls always look amazing, for the bride herself or her bridesmaids. By pinning some of it back you are able to create as much height as you wish on the top. With the help of backcombing and hairspray, this is a style that will see you through the day and night.

4. Braid going into a curly updo:

More curls, what can I say brides seem to love them. The difference here is you have an incredibly beautiful braid going into a curly updo. The braid gives this style something special. This is perfect for your bridesmaids. As you can see above the braid follows itself into the curls. Giving the idea that the braid never ends, it just blends into the stunning curls that are neatly pinned into place.

5. Fishtail braid:

This one we have less demand for, but I had to include it because it really is beautiful. This particular one starts as a chunky braid which follows into a fishtail braid. This is a great idea for any bridesmaids out there. If you are attending a summer wedding this is the perfect style to add tiny flowers following down the braid.

So they are my top 5, stunning right? Have you ever worn any of these to a wedding? If you are married, how did you have your hair? I would love to hear. As with all these styles make sure your hairdresser uses plenty of hairspray to guarantee your perfect updo lasts your whole day. All these styles and any others will naturally drop during the day, but they shouldn't look out of place. As the hair naturally drops the style becomes looser and more natural. If you are attending a wedding or are going to be a bride soon, I hope this gives you some ideas.

My top 5 apps

Hi everyone,
Like most people now a days, I am on my phone most of my time. This is because now you can do so much on them from checking your emails to writing a blog post. These all come with help from the apps now available on phones. So I thought today I would share with you my top 5 favourite apps.

1. Snapchat

I absolutely love snapchat. I love the fact that you can send picture to friends that only last so many seconds. This is a god sent for someone who never likes photos of themselves, like myself. You can follow loads of people on snapchat and keep up to date with them by watching their stories. I do aim to start using my snapchat more, as I do find it so much fun. If you want to follow me my snapchat is zoec06. The filters you can get make for endless fun. The amount of times I have sat down to play with them, then looked up at the clock and thought oh is that the time.

2. Studio

Now studio wont be for everyone. I use it because I post YouTube videos. Using this app I can keep tabs on all the analytics for my videos. I can see everything from how many views a video has had to the countries where my videos have been watched. I highly recommened this app if you are a Youtuber or even thinking of starting YouTube. If you are interested in seeing what I post on YouTube you can check out my channel here.

3. Buffer

This is an app that I use to schedule my tweets. Buffer is amazing if you are a blogger or a Youtuber as it means you can schedule tweets to go out about new posts and videos. I find this incredibly helpful as working full time I don't have time or internet at work to keep tweeting, so my followers know what is coming up. This also automatically posts the tweets for you. So if I am at work I don't need to worry as I know my tweets will go out. I cant wait to use this while I am away as it will keep you all up to date with when posts and videos will being posted.

4. Wunderlist

Wunderlist is a bit different to the rest. I use this to make any lists I need. As you can see from the picture you can create different lists for different things. This helps to keep me organised and then I can find everything I need to do/get. This is the perfect way to stay organised, be this from getting groceries to blogging lists.

5. Instagram

How could Instagram not make my list. I love taking picture and the idea that I can find them all in one place where I can look over them anytime. I just think it is fantastic. I am trying to make an effort to post more on my Instagram. I would love if you popped over and checked me out. Also I would greatly appreciate if you gave me a follow. I cant wait to see your Instagram pages. I could sit for hours just looking at them.

So they are my top 5 apps. As you can see there is a little bit of a mixture of apps there. What is your favourite app? Any you recommened that I should try? Let me know in the comments. Hope you have had a good start to your week, what are you doing this week? I would love to hear.

I think it is so important to take time to hear what others have to say. So if someone needs someone to talk to, offer them an ear to talk to. It will leave you feeling better for helping someone else out.

My top 5 albums I own

Hi everyone,

I love nothing more than listening to music. Its one of my favourite things to do when I am taking some time to chill out. I own so many CDs, but I just love having the hard copy instead of a download. There's something about it. So I thought today I would share with you my top 5 albums. These aren't in any particular order they are just my top 5 favourites.

1. 5 Seconds Of Summer:

I first started listening to 5sos when they were posting covers on YouTube. I have basically loved them ever since. When I heard they were releasing their first album, I just knew I had to get it. I love every song on this CD. They have since released a second album as well and that is so amazing too. If you love boy groups that still play their own instruments, then check out these four Aussie boys.

2. Adele, 25:

I already owned Adele's album called 21 and I loved it. But I have to say I think I like 25 even better. The songs on this are incredible and pull at your heartstrings. She has an absolutely beautiful voice, which I could listen too all day. If you loved Adele's previous albums, head out and get this one.

3. Ed Sheeran, X:

I have been an Ed Sheeran fan for as long as I can remember. This album is one of my go to ones for sure. I love Ed's voice and if I am honest I could probably listen to it all day. My favourite off this CD would have to be "thinking out loud", I just love it.

4. Justin Bieber, Purpose:

I know not everyone is a Justin Bieber fan, but I just love his new stuff. Its really catchy and really gets stuck in your head. When I first heard "love yourself" on the radio I just knew I had to go get the CD. Not a single song on this album has been a let down. I cant wait to see what else he brings out.

5. Now That's What I call Disney:

This is for all you Disney fans out there. I love nothing more than sitting down and watching a Disney film, I own so many of them. When I saw this in Tesco I just had to pick it up. The songs from Disney films are what I love about them. So if your a Disney fan, go pick this up for yourself.

So they are my top 5 albums that I own. All a little bit different. I love buying new CDs, so if you have any you recommend let me know in the comments. What are you favourite albums?

My favourite author

Hi everyone,

I have always loved reading, right from a small age. I still own most of the books I use to read when I was younger. I have two bookcases in my bedroom full of books and theres still not enough room. As most people, who enjoy reading, I have lots of authors I like to read but I do have a favourite. Mine would be the wonderful John Green. I do think that my love of reading is what encouraged me even more to start my blog. When I first ever read one of John Greens books I knew from that moment on I was going to fall in love with his writing and I did just that.

Just incase you dont know who John Green is let me just say he is the incredible mind behind "The fault in our stars". If you thought the movie was good, I highly recommend you read the book. It will pull at every heartstring you have. Now let me give you a bit about John. He is an american author of young adult fiction. He is best known for the incredible novels he has written. These include "Looking for Alaska", "The fault in our stars" and "Paper towns". Two of his books were both made into outstanding films, which have been loved by many. As well as writing John can be recognised from his YouTube channel he does with his brother, called VlogBrothers. He has also launched events such a VidCon.

Where did I hear about him and what makes his books so special?

I first heared about John from YouTube, believe it or not. I had watched so many videos with different YouTubers talking about "The fault in our stars". It sounded amazing and as someone who loves to read I just knew I had to give it a go. Thats where it all began.  From that moment on I fell in love with the way John writes. His books are unlike anything I have ever read before. They have me gripped from page one to the very last page in the book. The first book I read was "The fault in our stars". I had actually purchased it to take on holiday. If I remember rightly I finished the book within four days of our holiday. As soon as I had finished I just knew I had to read some of his other work. So there I am on holiday in Yorkshire and I am standing in WHSmiths. I then left with three more of his books, I just couldnt resist. I cant even tell you which one of his books is my favourite. They are all so different and all written to the point where you physically cant pick. I have not yet read one of his books and thought "yer it was ok". I even got my sister reading them and she said exactly the same.

Which books do I own?

- The fault in our stars

- Paper towns

- An abundance of Kathrine's

- Will Grayson, Will Grayson

- Looking for Alaska

- Let it snow

I have not yet read "Looking for Alaska" or "Let it snow". But I am so excited to give these two a go. As I said before they are all very different stories. But they do all have you gripped from page one. I cant wait to see what I think of the two I havent read. I also own both films on DVD. Again I cant rank whether I like "The fault in our stars" or "Paper towns" better, even though they are films. One thing I will say is that they both stick to the storyline from the books. Which in my experience of films made from books, this isnt always the case.

Overall I highly recommended John Green to anyone who is a lover of books out there. I am still to find another author who writes like John, maybe I will one day, maybe I wont. Who is your favourite author? Let me know in the comments. Also is there anyone you recommend? As I am always on the hunt for new authors to try. Also let me know in the comments what your all time favoirite book is, be that a current one or a childhood favourite. If you want to see all the books John Green has written you can find them here. I hope your all enjoying the start of your week.

Whats on my phone

Hi everyone,
Todays post is one that I love reading or watching on YouTube. That's the what's on my phone post. I love these types of posts because I love seeing what apps people are loving. It always give me inspiration for new apps that I want to get. So my phone is the IPhone 5s. Lets take a look at what I have got on it.
Lock screen:
The first thing you see when you press the lock button or home button on my phone is my lock screen. This just shows the time and date. The picture for my wallpaper is one I took while I was sitting on a beach in Turkey last year. I love it as it reminds me of a place I absolutely adore.

 First page:
Once you have unlocked my phone you come to the first page of my phone. On here I just have all the generic apps that come with an IPhone. My most used on this page are messages, calendar, photos, camera, clock, phone, mail and safari. From the first page you can swipe left. This puts you onto the search page. This has Siri suggestions, which includes contacts and apps. It also has restaurants, coffee, shopping and petrol suggestions. Then it just has News.

Second page:
From the first page swipe right and that gives you the second page. Here it has a few more generic apps and then all the apps I have downloaded. I put all my apps into folders, as this helps me to organise my phone and find things easily. My most used generic apps I use are the calculator found in the extras folder and podcasts. Which is where I listen to Tyler Oakley and Korey kohl's podcast.

Then in my folders I have made I have:
- Photography:
In here I keep IMovie and Photo Quilt. I use IMovie to edit my YouTube Videos as I don't own a Apple laptop so I have to film and edit everything on my IPhone. Next I have Photo Quilt. I use this to make any collages I need for blog posts or Instagram.

- Bits and bobs:
Here I just keep odd apps that have no real place to go. This includes Netflix, Boots, Solitaire and Wunderlist. Netflix is just because you never know when you might need it. I use the Boots app to get deals on my Boots card to use in store. Solitaire is just so I have something to play when I am bored.  I love my Wunderlist app. It is an app for making lists on and it is so good. You can make different sections for different things you want to list about.

- YouTube:
In this folder I keep my YouTube app, Studio app and Sub Count. My YouTube app is what I watch all my videos and listen to music on. Studio is for looking at my own personal YouTube channel. You can find me here. I can see all my analytics through this app too. Then we have Sub Count which is a live subscriber count for my channel.

- Emails:
Here you just find two of my emails that I use regularly. These are Yahoo Mail and Gmail.

- Statistics:
Here is where I keep the two apps that track my statistics for my blog. These are Google Analytics and Google AdSense.

- Social Media:
Here is where I keep everything social media related. This includes Twitter, Snapchat, Pinterest, Instagram, Google+, Buffer, Bloglovin, Whatsapp and Blogger.

- Radio stations:
I do quite like to listen to the radio so I keep a selection of different apps on my phone. These include KISS KUBE, Capital, Heart and Magic.

So that is everything I keep on my phone. What apps do you have? Do you have any I don't, that you think I might like? Let me know in the comments. I hope that you have all had a wonderful weekend.

How to be organised when blogging

Hi everyone,
So I have been blogging since October and I soon realised that if I am going to stay committed I need to be organised. I love blogging so much and I have found being more organised helps me to achieve what I want to achieve. Another plus side to being organised is that I got to go out and buy a ton of stationary. Which is like one of my favourites things to buy. When I first started blogging I started with a notebook and pen. That was it. But it done the job. I then found the more I post the more planning and stuff I needed to do. So I thought today I would share with you my top tips for staying organised. Which I also find if I am organised it keeps me focused at the task in hand.
1. Use free printables:

You can find free printables just about anywhere on the internet. My favourite place to look is on pinterest. There are so many you can get. Be this a calendar, planning sheets or statistics log. You really can find anything you are looking for. The two above are my favourites and the most used in my folder. As I post three times a week, the weekly planner (the one on the right) is amazing. I then use three of the blog post planners (left one) after that to plan each individual blog post. I find using free printables keeps me ultra organised and I then know where everything is when I am looking for it.

2. Use folders to organise paperwork:

I personally keep different folders and notebooks for different blog stuff. I have a folder that I keep my year planner and planning sheets in. Then I have a folder for all my statistics and other odd pieces of paperwork. I find that separating my paperwork into different folders and notebooks keeps me organised as I know where everything is when I am looking for it. You can pick up cheap folders from any supermarket or shop. I really do believe there is no other way to file your work, in a way that you will 100% be able to find it again. Also you can get some really cute folders, for a stationary lover, this is heaven.

3. Different coloured pens:

Different coloured pens are my go to when doing paperwork. One, they are great for colour coding different stuff. Two, they are just super cute. And three, they scream organisation. I always find if my work is colour coded, when I flick through I can find things quicker. Highlighters are also like incredible. As they are super bright and as soon as you see them you know that something is important.

Little sticky notes:

These sticky notes may be small but they are incredibly helpful. I use these for paperwork, in my notebook, anything. I love using these to separate the month we are in and the blog post I am currently writing. Then when I look in my folder I can just flick straight to the month we are on. They may be small but you would be surprised what a big help they are.

5. Make to-do lists:

This is a must. I always write a to-do list for myself. As I love working towards goals. There is no better feeling then starting the day with a to-do list and finishing it with a list you have achieved everything on. Its the sign of a productive day. So I tend to write myself a list most days, I then stick that in the front of my folder. So when I open it I know what I have to achieve for that day. This is a great way to make sure you achieve your goals.

6. Set goals for the week:

I know I just said its great to have daily to-do lists, but you should still make weekly goals. You can do this on a Sunday evening, so when you get up Monday you know exactly what you want to achieve in the week ahead. There is no greater feeling than achieving all your goals for the week. You could even set different goals for different days. Or colour code it. Make it fun, lists and paperwork doesn't have to be a chore.

7. Plan out you week ahead:

Find yourself a weekly planner and take advantage of it. I love this one as I write three blog posts a week. Crazy I know but I love it. So this one works so well for me. I love filling this out and then I know where I stand for the week ahead. I have always been that girl who wants to be as organised as possible. So being able to go through my folder and see this and I know exactly what my week consists of. Its pure bliss to me.

8. Choose a day to work on planning and paperwork:

This is where that trusty printable calendar comes in. Fill out all the days you wish to post on and then see what is left. Then pick a day to work on all your planning and paperwork. I like to do all this on a Monday as its the beginning of the week and before all my posts go out. If I cant get it in on a Monday, say I am still working on a YouTube video, I will do it on a Tuesday. So just find your perfect day and stick to it. The more of a routine you get into with paperwork the easier it will be and quicker you will get it done.

9. Log your statistics:

I think it is so important to log your statistics. I know you can get them all up on your computer. I just like to write them down so I can look back and compare them. It is a great way of finding out if any months you have a dip in stats. You can then go back over that month and see what posts you posted. Finding out what might not work for your audience or what might not be popular.

So there is some of my top tips for being organised when blogging. As I said before I love blogging and these are just some of the things that I find work for me. What keeps you organised? Let me know in the comments. I hope your having an amazing week.
See you soon
