Beauty myth's we all believe

Hi everyone,
Happy Easter!!

This week's post is not Easter related but I think you will like it. At the end of February I wrote a post called "Hair myth's we all believe". If you haven't seen it you can check it out here. So I thought I would give you some beauty myth's today. Just like the last time I have 5 myth's, which I think you will be glad to find out are false. So here we go.

1. "Expensive cosmetic's are better then inexpensive":
This one is so hard to believe it's false, but it's true. A product may have a massive price tag on it but it doesn't make it any better than a cheaper product. It all come's down to the formulation of the product. If the formula doesn't work for your skin then it's no good, no matter how much it cost. So next time your thinking about purchasing that really expensive product you love. Remember there is probably a drugstore product that is very similar and work's just as well for your skin, if not better.

2. "Blackhead's relate to cleanliness and can be scrubbed away":
This is wrong on so many level's. Ok let's start with the first part of this myth. Blackhead's do not mean that you are not clean, that is just rubbish. I am about to get deep. Blackhead's are caused by sebum (oil) in the skin which is being over produced. This then gets trapped under the layer's of dead skin. When the oil start's to surface under the skin it turn's black. Causing the blackhead. So next part is scrubbing, they can't just be scrubbed away it doesn't work like that. A normal facial scrub will take away the dead skin cell's. This type of scrub can't get deep enough to remove the blackhead's. A scrub that contains salicylic acid on the other hand exfoliates deeper and can help to remove blackhead's.

3. "Moisturiser's applied at night must be labelled as "night cream":
I can't even tell you how many time's I have heard this. The truth is the only difference between day and night cream's is that day cream's contain sun protection. I personally use the same moisturiser for the day and night, and that work's for me. So you don't need to go splash out on two moisturiser's, one will be just fine.

4. "Shaving will make your body hair grow thicker":
Again I completely understand why you would think this was true. I know I use too when I use to shave, I now wax. When you shave and your hair grows back it is obviously shorter and more stubbly. This creates the elusion that the hair is thicker between shaving. But honestly don't worry it's not, it's the same as normal just shorter.

5. "Filing your nail's can be done in any direction":
You should always file your nail's in one direction. I can't stress that enough. Filing your nail in one direction promotes nail growth and longer nail's. Which come on all you ladies out there, that is what we want. If you file your nail's in both direction's it causes them to break and peel. So please don't do this.

So there are 5 beauty myth's. Did you know any of them? Do you know any other myth's that I haven't mentioned? Let me know in the comment's. I hope that you all had a fabulous long weekend. Leave me a comment telling me what you got up to. See you next week.

Love
